Ouch. Does this mean they can still use their old bikes? or do they have to give them back?.

well, botero got to keep his.
(from Jason’s thread:)

I wonder if more bike manufacturers will follow suit. Which brings up another interesting question. If a team doesn’t have an official bike sponsor, and the main sponsor has deep pockets, can they buy and race any bike they want? I would assume so but cycling seems to have some weird rules.
BMC = Bike Make Cheater (in Vino-speak)
.
Like you said, weird UCI rules. But, its been done before with wheels (names removed, blacked out, painted over) so why not with frames?
i would say a re badged P3 will be a lot more recognizable than a re badged Zipp 404. So I wonder if the bike manufacturers would not want their bike in the hands of a team that could be considered less than desirable in terms of morals. Of course, we would have to assume that at least one or two teams in the tour are clean to be able to take that stand. But I just wonder if they would be able to do anything to prevent it.
Poor BMC, they are 0-2 in the past TDF’s Both teams got kicked out because of doping/allegations
.
Well at least they are taking actions… & just for that I would buy a BMC (assuming my banker will allow me :))
Cheers,
Fred.
Toyota-United rode on “United” Bicycles last year. Bascially house-branded bikes, most of the riders got to choose their own TT bikes with Baldwin and others opting to ride the P3C from Cervelo.

Awesome! Now if ALL sponsors would do that we would get one step closer to a fair sport.
I suggest that the sponsors pay some of the money at the end of the contract with a clause that a doping scandal would cause the team to forfeit the money that they otherwise would receive at the end of the season/term.
