Thinking of doing the Blue Devil or IMMOO next year. Have already done 1 IMNA event and while I enjoyed it I think a smaller less hectic race may be more enjoyable. I have heard that the blue devil is a much more relaxed atmosphere.
Has anyone done this race? What was your impression?
I haven’t participated in the Blue Devil, but I’ve been in charge of the bike special needs station each year of the race so I’m familiar with it. I think it’s a great race to do. The bike course is pretty challenging, but not too hard. The run course is five loops, which people say they really like. Since there aren’t a ton of participants, having five loops allows you to see people throughout the day and your supporters are able cheer you on more than on most run courses.
Bill Scott and his Set Up crew put on quality races, so you know you’re getting a good event.
If you have any questions about the race, let me know. Another plus is that the proceeds go to support cancer research.
I did it in 2003. Very well run race and I really enjoyed it. No, you are not going to have 1,000s of spectators but you also are not going to have 1,000s of participants participating in a slugfest either.
Very nice swim in a clean lake. Bike course has some rollers but nothing real tough. The run is 5 loops in the park which has its good points and its bad points. Good points: you get to stay in touch with other people doing the race and spectators, great support and aid stations with everyhting you need, no traffic to speak. Bad points: some tough hills you get to visit 5 times, running away from the finish line 5 times.
