pop it and put a big compeed on it
.
no problem. pop, clean well, put tegaderm on it (or not).
Z - take a syringe and draw out the liquid. It’s easy and is like a balloon you deflate by sucking out all the air. Then, a bandaid. I did this and did a 1/2 in March with no problems.
Naw, chances are you don’t have a syringe. Just poke a sterilized needle into the side to drain it. Then let it chill tm. Then, sunday morning cover the blister in Super Glue. Yes, I said Super Glue. Put a thin layer on, wait 2 minutes, and add a second layer. I shit you not, this works like a freaking bullet proof shield. I have used it for blisters so bad they bled and permanently stained the shoes. Drained, waited, super glued, ran the day after with no problems.
that sounds so crazy i just my try it.
how do you get it off though?
Advertise for a cyclist and runner. You’re now the swimmer in the team competition.
Voice of experience here - If you do pop it, sterilize a needle and stick it in. Let it drain. DO NOT peel away the skin. Instead just put a band-aid over it and leave alone.
When you are done with it you just kinda peel it off. I’d say its less painful that a bandaid. If you don’t want to peel it off, itll wear off in about 2 days, maybe sooner.
The best part is that super glue is non-toxic. I do all my training with no socks, cause thats how I race. My feet get blistered and cut up all the time. I just use the Superglue as a bandaid and or blister shield.
The tough part is being careful not to touch that part of the skin with other skin before it dries. You kinda want to paint on a thin layer. Let it dry, then pain on another. Just try not to glue your toes together.
But if you do glue your toes together you should post a picture of it so we can all laugh.
Oh, to clarify… I don’t usually peel away the skin when I use superglue. You can if you want, and can race and train with the superglue barrier. However, it will take a lot longer to heal. If you leave the skin there it will heal a ton faster.
I think you are jeopardizing your life, your career and your future triathlon experience by racing with a big toe blister. Running this race in 36 hours is the height of folly. Think about your kids or family if you have them. Go ahead if you have to, just know the risks:
tea bag, get a earl grey tea bag, wet it and tape it to your big toe, keep it there for an hour, do it again. It drains the blister, works everytime, I race week after week sometimes and always use this trick.
Make sure its earl grey, decaf or chinese green tea won’t work.
i’ve actually managed to superglue three fingers together when i was 12. i think i was working on a school project.
Just so you dont think it is one crazy guy’s opinion that you shouldnt follow, I also like the superglue technique. Ive only done it a couple times, but I think I love it. If you can flow the glue under the blister, you essentially put your foot back together completely. Last time, I ended up getting a blister under another layer of skin during an 80min run while the superglue layers of skin held tight. But other blisters have completely stopped dead in their tracks due to the glue.
Another trick ive heard of but not tried is duct tape, I think ultramarathoners do this a lot.
In any event, I think you are pretty hardcore if you repair yourself with glue.

I used to use duct tape until i discovered super glue. The smooth surface of the duct tape seems to prevent the abrasiveness that causes most blisters.
I didn’t know blisters caused confusion. Next time I get yelled at at work, I’ll use that excuse.
“I’m sorry, I misunderstood the assignment. I had a blister and was confused.”
