i have been thinking this same thing. The best thing I can come up with but have yet to try it out is to use google maps and select that you want to share your location with your wifes phone and vice versa. This “should” allow her to see where you are “in real time” provided you had your phone with you on the bike and run. However that means you need to keep your phone on you at all times during the bike and run which by the rules is a no no. SO then you have to kinda hide it…which is why I have not tried it yet. Plus I was worried about my phone getting damaged from water and other things on the run.
There is one called GPS tracker I believe. You log in, create an account, link your blackberry to the account and are good to go. It then gives you a code or password to give to people to go to the site and track you. You have to obviously turn it on and start it though from your blackberry for it to work. I only used it once but it seemed to work pretty well, shows the person on the computer your location, direction speed etc…
One issue I recall though is make sure you have unlimited data because the blackberry is constantly sending to the website to update your progress.
no chance would i carry a blackberry with me. All I really want is an app that links into the Ironmanlive athlete tracker to give her genereal updates (like half waay through the run etc)
does that exist?
Just get her to save the tracker site as a bookmark and she can check herself - if she can’t do that - then she isnt bothered ! Failing that - just get a mate to text her your times - that works for me !
