At the Ironman Village in Oceanside two weeks ago I entered the Newton Running tent. My intention: to buy two pair of their socks, because I love them. They are the only thing in the $150 box of shoes that was worth saving. I love the way they feel. So I grabbed two pair, dropped them on the counter and the chick running the register says, “Just the socks?” - or translated correctly, “You’re going to make me ring you up for only $20 not $150?”. Anyway, I said, “yes, hate the shoes but love the socks.” The music stopped, the jaws of the other two dudes working the tent dropped and I was fortunate to escape with my little bag of socks.
I absolutely love the socks. I have them in a sacred place and only pull them out on race day. The shoes are now walking shoes. They are the worst to run in! I applaud your valiant effort. I will also take the ‘socks only’ plunge the next time I see a newton tent thanks to you.
You can’t be serious… They have all the seams on the inside of the sock and rub against the top of my toes and my pinky toe. When I reach out for them, I know it’s time to do the laundry.
Wouln’t it have been more courteous to say, " I love the socks and that is all that I need today" ? Bad enough that you behaved that way in their tent, but you then go on line to brag about your bad manners.
There are tons of products that I don’t like but it does me no good to be rude to the people that are selling them. Karma is a mother, you know?
You should remember that one day when you throw a fit like that the person on the other end just might throw you a beating. I don’t condone violence but sometimes it sure is fun!
shoes are pretty good for me but the socks rock! i thought they should sell the socks on their web site…haven’t checked lately but last time I didn’t see them…
you’re lucky PNF and Heather Fuhr didn’t chase you down…
