That is the political culture in Chicago. They lie cheat and steal and when they get caught they proclaim they did nothing wrong. We are going to be seeing this for the next four years with Obama and Emanuel in the White House.

I guess the next 8 years will tell us. I can’t lump Obama in with that crowd quite yet though. He is pushing for more transparency in government than any other president I’ve seen.

First of all Obama has 4 years not 8. He has to run for that 2nd term.
I lump all Illinois politicians into one group, that being corrupt until they prove me wrong. Obama never fought the corruption in Illinois, so that is why I think this.

As far as the lobbyists, he has the most strict rules of any president in history and said from the beginning there will be an exception process if the situation warrants. I’m not aware of any other lobbyists working with him, which is not perfect but better than other presidents throughout modern history. I’m good with better even if it isn’t perfect.

To me transparency isn’t enough. How does transparency fight corruption? I want someone that will take on corruption head on and that is something that Obama never did. In fact when you look at Obama’s record he never fought the corruption in the most corrupt state in the country. He never fought against Blago, Daley, Stroger, or Jones. He got in bed with Rezko and LaHood. To me this is dirty. I look at actions rather than words. Obama has always talked a good game but never produced anything of note in his time in politics.
