I was looking at Blackwell Research’s sight and had two thoughts. The first being WOW and the second being a great love for them making agressive products that the rule books hate. Now I am wondering if that could be a problem.
Even though the tri world loves too think it’s on the cutting edge I am seeing a trend towards keeping things as they have always been and a slight distaste for anything radical.
Their Bandit fork seems to be what the doctor orderd. Very deep and aero. Are there going to be enough triathletes and time trialist willing to step to the plate and use such an agressive product? Same thing goes for their aerobars. Will enough people shake off the smirks and pointing from the rest of the pack and use what they think is best for their race? There will be those who will but will there be enough?
This goes beyond Blackwell and into the sport itself. Are we now passed the early rebel days of the sport and starting too define ourselves on the traditions of the past much like the UCI? We are far from it right now but is it in the cards?
