i don’t think she even broke the women’s course record. flat course, winds were moderate and at your back on the homeward leg of the bike. bike was maybe a half mile short. heat was not a factor. this is probably one of, if not the, fastest halfs out there. consider that the average 30 - 34 year old man (before transition times) went 5:01, and you can do the math.
she beat Lory Bowdens course record by 8 minutes, that’s what the swiss tri website says.
that would be lori bowden’s 2002 time that she beat by 8 minutes. badmann went 4:13:58 in 2002. bowden went 4:21:53 in 2003. badman again goes 4:13:42 in 2004. judging by the site it was a record but word at the finish was that she just missed it. however, that seems to be a mistake as well.
