Black Monday 2026

They’re not?

Analysis outside of the WTF circle (in which I firmly resided until recently) is that McCarthy is a QB whisperer who helped develop Aaron in GB, among others; a capable and experienced offensive thinker, and a local guy who gels well with the vibe of the organization and community. Rooney is not looking for a rebuild, so he’s essentially Mike 2.0 but with a higher offensive upside.

If he can develop our late round QB pick into a starter, I think he’s got a high ceiling and also fits well with the Pittsburgh style of play. If not, we draft higher next year and pick a better prospect and apply his skill set there.

It’s not an exciting pick and I understand the moaning and groaning. We aren’t getting McVay or another hot shot up and coming offensive savant, which would have been fun and exciting, but the Rodney’s don’t do risk and Mike fits well within the cohort of coaches they would consider. And if it doesn’t work out, he’s not going to be around for long given his age. So at worse, he’s mediocre for a fairly short period of time.

I remain hopeful.

I’m glad you’re remaining hopeful, I think you should be. He had a bunch of really good years in GB and won a SB.

He went 12-5 three years in a row in Jerry’s shit show.

He’s a proven winner.

The Broncos fired their OC today but yet it is Payton that calls the plays. Odd.

Sal Pal said on ESPN about an hour or so ago that “Eagles are interested in some people whose seasons aren’t over yet” for their vacant OC spot

Odd indeed. They were the #1 seed in the AFC and the 10th best offense in the NFL. That’s tough to improve on–especially when Payton is calling plays. weird

The Browns to hire Todd Monken as HC. In other words, no one else really wanted the job. Congratulations Cleveland fans, you may get the #1 draft choice for the next 10 years.

The rumor in Denver is that he was fired so that Davis Webb can be promoted to OC. Webb, the QB coach, has interviewed for HC with Raiders and Bills and had OC interviews with 3 other teams.

Thanks, I figured there must be more to the story.

Yeah, doubt that will cause a surge in season ticket sales in Cleveland.

Little delayed, as it has coaches in their OLD jobs

O-Line Coach Jeff Stoutland not returning to Philly to serve under new OC Sean Mannion

If you don’t think this is huge (and worrisome, for me, I must admit ), consider these

I know they had some injuries, but Philly’s O-line definitely took a step backwards this year.

I think it was Patullo’s reluctance to let them just manhandle the people in front of them, allow Saquon & Hurts run to soften the opponents up, then air out to AJ & Smith
