How come all the bike companies are going with black bikes all of the time? It won’t be long before noone will be able to find their bike in the transition area. Everyone can’t think that black is the best color can they? Let’s start a poll, who likes black vs. who likes color. My vote is obviously to bring back colorful bikes. Also, how come there are no green bikes? Are they bad luck or something?
Black is the new black. Stealth is in and I’m all for it. i hted the day glo phase of the early 90’s…
One nice thing about a black bike is that it never shows dirt. My white Fuji is always dirty.

Brushed Ti… It will become a classic finish
"Also, how come there are no green bikes? "
Uh. I’ve been saying it for months: I hate this all-black carbon trend.
.
The same as everyone else’s.
when I got to pick my color of serotta, I went black. 2 things, I like black - my gf says I look good in black, and 2 it matches everything. With red rims, red tires, red tape here and there, cable ends etc. my bike is easy enough to stand out; yet I can change the color scheme easily. Plus I know that with myself, I get tired of fads quickly. Flames were cool a couple of years ago for me, not anymore. Then again, I do have 4 different colored helmets…
The same reason sports cars are so often black. Black is an easier color to do well. Red is nice, but you have to use some candy apple, or something a little more glossy.
I recomend people towards black, because it’s a lot easier to match your wardrobe to. If you really know what your are doing you can look great with other colors, but black is the easiest.
We can see that subtlety isn’t your forte.
One hot carbon bike is subtle.
Everybody and their mom riding the same bike, however nice that bike may be by itself, is not subtle. It seems every bike company is making their top-end bike to look just like every other black carbon bike by any other company, with the same look, same components, similar tubes. Black carbon top-end bikes have lost all the subtlety they had, and black carbon is now a mass effect, and frankly, banal.

I don’t know where you get your bikes, but my black bike shows dirt.
Here’s my black bike that I can locate from 1/2 mile away, even before I get into T1. The seat is tall enough that I cannot hang the frame from the seat in transition (the wheels are still on the ground), it MUST be hung from the brake levers.
This is a 1997 black carbon “pre black fad” frameset…but NOT klike all the rest, thats one of the reasons why I like 'em.
Hed wheels on a Zipp?
They are least objectionable.
4 black bikes and 3 black cars.
Nice think about black bikes is if you want color you can add it on the handlebar tape, saddle, etc. I like the stealthy look.
Easy to keep clean? Where’d that comment come from? Black shows dirt much more than white.
I like black as the touchup on the paint is easy to do.
Black is beautiful.
“Do not underestimate the dark side of the force.” Darth Vader (always in black)
I personally prefer more color, but as you can see below I am also guilty of the black/carbon trend. There just aren’t many interesting carbon bikes out there that are also colorful. When the summer is over I have thought about finding someone who can repaint the frameset.
