Bjorn's bike split - 4:33:35

That is sick fast on that course…

but if it blows him up - it’s of no good

From Ironman live

Andersson goes through three miles

After blazing through the bike, Bjorn Andersson is running what appears to be nine-minute miles!

According to our spotters, he’s not looking too good through the early stages of the run here today!

Can you say “one-trick pony” ?

well… his 48:xx swim ain’t nuthin to sneeze at either, so his 2 tricks are better than the majority of the world’s 3 tricks…

He was in Verona ON FIRE…I bet Gerard is wetting his pants…there were about 5 P3C’s in the top 15 (and 4 Softrides)…the run will tell the tale…I will have some VERY sweet photos of Bjorn
.

That would be very cool to see Chip.

Altough Ironman Live says that Bjorn’s walking…bummer!

My “one trick pony” comment refers to the fact that every time he swims and bikes too hard and then obviously blows up on the run… that’s his only trick…

“”(and 4 Softrides)“”

who rode the softrides?

No matter which way you cut it - you are simply an asshole.

Bjorn is an exceptional athlete and until such time as you can exceed or at the very least - MATCH his abilities - you should shut your F&*%ing Pie hole

Hell if I know, first time in Verona (lap 1) Softride was second, fourth, about 9th and about 12-13 as well…All Rocket frames…

I don’t know about being a “one trick pony”, but apparently he hasn’t learned anything from past mistakes.
I know he thinks that the low cadence is the fastest way for him to ride, but that has got to shred your muscles before you ever get to the run.
From what I have read here, he seems like a great guy, but that doesn’t mean his race strategy is ideal.

I would like to see the same sentiment directed toward ALL sports, and ALL athletes. That would eliminate virtually everything from sports journalism and sports radio. Everyone has an opinion and the right to voice it, but not everyone’s opinion is equally valid. Sometimes I think we forget the last part of that.

While the one-trick pony comment is a bit forward, maybe even harsh … history shows that Bjorn’s running is over-shadowed (to say the least) by his biking. IMO, DA is acting as the balance in this situation. As we have seen at ST, Bjorn gets touted and thrown on a pedestal b/c he is awesome at what this site values … hammering the bike. I remember some folks complaining of all the attention Bjorn got at IMNZ and how little Cam received at this site.

The attention that “one-trick” ponies or even “two-trick ponies” get all depends on how dominant that “one-trick” is. I’m sure we can all think of many athletes in many sports that are famous and/or wealthy because they do one thing very well, and are not dominant in all aspects of the sport. Saying that “Moises Alou is a ‘one-trick’ pony b/c he hits very well, but can’t run or field to save his life” is not so much insulting to Moises as it is stating the obvious.

Bjorn talks as much as anyone about his difficulties with running. He is well aware of his strengths/weaknesses.

I did not get the sense that DA was trying to be a jerk, but more like “balance the discussion”.

Disclaimer: I am speaking out of interest, not experience.

A buddy of mine who is a photog for a magazine we all read and I talked for a bit in Verona…he said Bjorn was at “about 10rpm” up some of the hills…we all know better than that…with that, he would kick my ass anyday so what the hell can I say?

Thank you, however your (ridiculous) self-established standard requiring a speaker to meet or exceed the abilities of the person whom he is expression his opinion about doesn’t fly here… or anywhere for that matter… it inhibits critical thought and expression…

Oh… and what triple threat said  (didn’t read that when I posted)

why dont these guys learn to pace themselves correctly and actually try to run off the bike?

isnt one46 the guy who started a thread dissing steve larsen?

fuck off.

you’re entitled to your opinion - but why is it that you THRIVE on cutting people down?

Look at Bjorn’s results - all of them - not selectively looking at the results where he may not have got it all together on the day

Again - my sentiment - why attack him - unless you are better positioned than he - to do so?

So easy for too many folks to sit behind the safety of a computer screen and level an attack at someone.

He may not be your favorite athlete - and looking at your last post when someone had asked about why the attention to IM over ITU - wherein you responded…

"Cervelo/tubulars/ironman… there are things that are holy on this forum… "

All you are doing is again, attacking this forum and those that post here.

In essence - all you are doing is showing a bitter side in you - along with your own narrow mindedness.

Your comments are wrong - these are NOT the things that are holy on this forum - they just happen to be subjects/items or manufacturers brands that are very significant in triathlon. Because this is a triathlon/multisport based forum - it would and should, stand to reason that these items would be discussed.

fulla - not me brother - I have never dissed Steve larsen

there is someone else here who uses the name 140.6
.

lol ok one forty…sorrry.

i thought it would have been quite ironic if it was you. but really bjorn should learn to pace himself so that he can actually run off the bike. it’s not as if he hasn’t had the opportunity to learn how to do this.

no problems!!!
