Birthday swim (1)

It is tht time of the year again. Next tuesday I turn 63. I have had some injuries this year which have prevented me from doing a killer swim. this year I am doing 63 X 50 yard swims on 55 sec.
I invite all ofyou to do your version of the birthday swim.
Have fun.

.

And only 14 X 50 for me!

Suckers!!

My bday is coming up in a few weeks. I was trying to think of something to do. I was thinking about 120 or so bike ride. I might do that though. It would only be 24x50 for me. But, m swimming sucks, so it will be a bit of a challenge.

I just turned 25 this past Saturday. I did the following:

2500m in the pool
25 miles on the bike
25 minute run

All in all, not much of an epic set, but as I age, it’ll get progressively harder, so that’s nice.

Hey…that’s my birthday workout! Actually, me and my friend/training partner have birthdays one day apart, and we always do the birthday workout based on his - he hits 47 this year.
4700 m swim
47 min run
47-ish mile MTB ride (includes several ‘rehydration’ stops at local establishments…)

Happy (belated) birthday!

I turned 40 on October 4th and had planned a 40 x 50m on :50 but a nasty root on a trail that caused me to fall and smack my ribs really hard meant that I’ve only recently been able to swim again so I missed out on the B-Day workout ):
.

Doug,

I’ve got mad props for ya, but, the LAST thing I’d ever wanna do on my b-day is swim. Seriously, it’s on the list, but it’s right below root canal and visiting the proctologist

I did a hilly 30k race on my b-day this year.
It was in the low 30’s and mix of rain, sleet, and snow.
Lovely!

PS - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Many happy returns!

Bummer! My b-day is tomorrow. 28 x 50 on 55.

Thanks for the challenge! I was wondering what I was going to do.

Would the little purple pill allow 63 on 55 seconds? :o)

Dave

I did 125 mile ride for my b-day this year. That’s a bit over 4 miles for each year. Woot!

I had to make sure I could eat all the cake I wanted.

Next year, I plan to be in full on recovery mode on my b-day. Maybe a swim is doable by then.

Good on ya and happy b-day!

Happy (belated) birthday!

In a similar vein, my 40th was a group affair with 40 laps around the local track, 40 x 100s in the pool, 40 laps around a 1 mile neighborhood loop (with a stop every decade for liquid refreshments) then 40 shots followed by 40 winks. Well all is true except for the shots.

Happy (belated) birthday!

this spring, I did 35 x 100 on 1:30.

Thanks for your comments.
This year I am doing things a bit diferently. Every workout I do this week involves some combination of 63 X 50s. I did 21X50 swim with paddles and snorkel, 21X50s kick with fins, 21X50s swim with no equipment.
Another workout was 40X50s with paddles and snorkel, 10X50s just paddles and 13X50s no equipment.
today I am doing 63X50s all kicking.

Nice going!

But you need to do it in your birthday suit.

.

yuk it up - new rules:

age by 50 in age(seconds)

have a great swim Doug !

so 19x50 in :19?
umm… probably not happening.

All of you make me feel like such a slug. I just turned 30 and I got drunk and slept in 3x.

I did meet my goal of being in better shape at 30 than at 20. But I decided to leave a littel room for my goal of being in better shape at 40 than 30.
