Bill Peterson bike/cleat fit

Bill Peterson bike/cleat fit I have been cycling now for almost twenty years and have never felt totally comfortable or connected to the bike in the manner I feel I should. My problem is that my body is not symmetrical - I have three arms on my left side but only one on the right! Go Figure!!

But seriously, I have little niggling biomechanic issues on my left side that mean that I am always fiddling with my left cleat trying to find an optimal and comfortable position. With my right I never have any problems. I can use a fixed cleat on the right and never have issues. With the left I definitely need some float. I have tried the full run of pedals with different types of float and no luck.

I have heard a few stories about fittings with Bill Peterson and how he analyses your pedalling style up and down, left and right, and sets you up with orthotics and nails your bike and cleat fit to the millimeter!

Does anyone have experience with him that can offer some feedback? His rate seems well reasonable at $150 and after this long I would pay just about anything to pedal smoothly and efficiently.

Many thanks.

I worked with one off Bill’s partners down in Jersey in early '02, and we ended up working on the entire kinetic chain: cleats/orthotics, seight height, fore/aft position, handlebar location, stem length, etc. Noticeable increase in power right away. My buddy makes the long drive up to Rhode Island to see Bill (en route to his inlaws, generally) and is also really pleased with the results.

If you start with the cleat/orthotics (or just the cleat adjustment), I’m sure you’ll see the benefits.
