I’m bringing my bike to Valencia, CA for a week and would like to know of any good(safe) bike routes in the area. Please advise.

From the corner of McBean and Magic Mountain Parkway, follow MMP under the freeway (I-5) to The Old Road. Make a right on The Old Road This will take you to highway 126 where you make a left and head west toward Ventura. Very few traffic signals and wide shoulders to ride on. After 12 miles on the 126 you’ll come to a traffic signal in the town of Piru. Make a left, and this takes you though some nice quiet roads where they hold the Piru Time Trial once a month. From there (or from the 126) you can go up Highway 150 in Santa Paula which will take you to Ojai, Lake Casitas, and Ventura. Let me know if you want more details.
The 126 is your best bet. Very few lights, and a nice wide shoulder. You can continue past Piru, Filmore, and on to Santa Paula. There’s some minor traffic near Filmore, but nothing too bad.

It’s hot here in Arizona right now:-) but in Valencia you can count on milds temps in the morning and comfortably warm the rest of the day. You can also count on some wind.
I lived in Valencia for a spell and remember it being really windy.
