.

Hell no! narrow streets, cabs everywhere with tourists, left side drive on right side road (US Virgin Islands), mega steep hills, then down, then traffic jams …

Eluthera in the Bahamas is great but flat and boring. Not a place to go for specifically for the biking but if you want to ride and enjoy a beach vacation then it is good. One really really long road with no traffic. Like out and back for 100 kms. They even have a long charity ride in April I think.

There’s about 15 sovereign countries and innumerable islands in the Caribbean. A lot of them have roads.
You need to be a little more specific.
Some good group rides in Trinidad - with police escort.
I rode around Nevis once - hilly.
In my experience, there are very few traffic laws, no police presence - unless you hit up the french islands, which have fully developed motorways, at least for a short distance.

I got taken out in Nassau once. Crunched my front wheel. “Your bike is messed up mon”. Guy was nice enough to give me a ride back home. Didn’t even bother asking him about insurance.

Assuming your a guy? If not, women really shouldn’t train solo. I have heard some first hand accounts in the Bahama’s and Jamaica that turned pretty scary.

We can’t dive and fly within 18 hours. I often conclude a dive trip with a day to actually see the island on a bike.

Two years ago, I cycled Bonaire. What an amazing place that was. A huge cactus desert. Strange little villages. Enormous shallow lakes with Pink Flamingos. Wouldn’t have seen it without the bike I rented. Bringing a bike and dive gear is just too much.

used to live in usvi- st. john is pretty rough to ride although there are a handful of triathletes there and the occasional road race. like above, expect winding roads with illegal grades that cars can’t get up when wet, no bike lane and left hand drive cars driving on the left. there’s one small section of 5-10 miles that we used to loop on. it sucked. part of why I moved. tortola actually has a bike club that rides, worth checking into. we used to ride from west end into town and back, its flat along the ocean and safer than some other parts but again, crazy traffic, no bike lane. st. croix was the flattest of all and always seemed to have good potential for great riding when we would head over there but not much going on over there these days (job wise etc…)

I saw a bunch of crazy mofo’s riding on St. Maarten. Insane. I think there’s a sort-of bike shop near the airport.

I saw a bunch of crazy mofo’s riding

LOL

What is it about those peeps? Friend of mine took a ferry to another island with a shark tournament. Went off the rail on a high speed descent and had some big road burns that bled some. Went into the water bleeding with sharks. Ran out of adrenaline.

I have mountain biked in Puerto Rico, Turks and Caicos and it’s epic.
I have road biked Barbados and Tortola. Beware, they drive CRAZY!!!

Travel not cheep…

I’ve done some mtn. biking here. Was pretty awesome, but a bit of a trek to get to that part of St. Lucia. Some of the trails were designed by Tinker Juarez (if that means anything).
