I went down to the race to volunteer today, and although it was a very hot day some people put in some awesome performances. Here are few pictures from the race. As I was working I really didn’t have the time to shoot any interesting action stuff sorry. Also if someone could pop these up for me I would appreciate it I am still stuck using Mozzilla.
I volunteered to be a “rower” and take a lifeguard out to watch over the swim. This first pic is Joyce Donaldson from Elite Endeavors. I may be banned from their events for life for posting this.
Swimmers warming up as we ready the boats.
Our lovely lifeguards, none of which had ever worked a triathlon before, look over the notes on the wave starts. The blond on the left (I forgot her name) is doing her first tri in a couple of weeks. She said working the race today alleiviated many of the fears that she had. Biggest thing she learned is that she needs to pratice siteing in open water. All the girls commented on the poor technique of some of the swimmers.
This is Amelia, whom I had the extreme pleasure of rowing about the lake redirecting wayward swimmers this morning. Definetly could make the Hottie Thread.
Tom D scanning the transition area.
Random shot of the transition area taken while I was directing traffic in the runners “chute”.
The runners “chute” it is a downhill couple of hundred yards to the finish from here. The young man on the right was anxiously awaiting “daddy”. When dad arrived he joined him for the downhill run to the finish and they crossed the finish line hand in hand. The future of the sport.
Mike Aderhold, Tom D’s right hand man and the guy who has spent so much time getting my bike fitted and tuned for me. I thought it would be nice to post his mug up here. As usual I have great intentions…
Tom D on the mike. That is eferdand’s gf cheryl on the right.

It was hot today, no wetsuit on the swim which meant it was a struggle for some. Looked to be a great race, wish I had raced but was happy to give back for once.
