BikeSource / Shawnee Mission Tri

I did the Shawnee Mission Tri this past weekend and I think it’s a great race…but I really want to give my thanks to the guys at BikeSource in Overland Park, KS.

I live in Little Rock so it’s about a 6-7 hour drive to this race…and this was going to be the first race for me on my new Felt S22. However, my front deraileur cable and housing exploded during a short ride on the course late Saturday afternoon. In a panic, I took the bike to BikeSource (one of the triathlon’s sponsors) and got there about 15 minutes before they closed and explained the situation to them. They were very helpful and checked out my bike on the spot…did a little work on it and got me the parts and told me their mechanic would be at the tri site early the next morning and would be able to make the repair. I went to their tent first thing the next morning and the mechanic (Zeke) went straight to work. Although we had to work at getting the cable out of the shifter for a while, he stuck with it and got my bike repaired and ready to go…and I went on to beat my bike split from last year.

The course is rolling with one decent climb on it and the thought of riding that course in only the big or the small chainring was not a good one, but these guys saved my race for me…so I just wanted to share my story and give them the recommendation they deserve. Thanks Zeke…and thanks Bike Source!
