Bike Up on Wind Trainer

The mountain bike is the only bike I take out these days on the wet and occasionally icy roads and trails.

So the road/tri bike is up on the wind trainer where I use it several times a week. Am I doing it any harm by keeping it up there rather than taking it on and off all the time?

I leave my road bike on the trainer all winter. I just release the tension on the roller when not in use. Some people don’t put their “good” bike or tri bike on the trainer at all, because they are concerned about excessive wear and tear on the parts and frame. When I get a new road bike, the one on the trainer will be a permanent trainer bike.

Perhaps Tom D, can give some advise on this one. I am just setting up my new Computrainer and was going to leave my Kestrel set up on it nd just release the load off the back wheel when not in use. Apart from the usual sweat issue can it cause any major problems?

Yeah, anyone have input on this yet? It’s been 3 and half years… Does excessive trainer riding cause more wear and tear on frames than road riding?

Jeez, Dude. How many pages did you go back to find this??? I looked at the title in my inbox and thought “I don’t remember posting that”. Little surpise looking at the date.

I need one of them wind trainers after I swim, especially when I bike afterwords.
