Bike trainers (3)

Are the magnetic and fluid trainers that much different from each other? I’ve never used one. Do you get a good workout with this piece of equipment?

Definitley a different feel - I prefer fluid but have both so I can switch back on forth and change it up.

Fluid trainer feels more natural to me

Fluid is the way to go.

Agree fluid is the way to go. Plus get one with a heavy flywheel for a more road like spin up and down.

Like most things, you get what you pay for. There’s a reason the fluid units cost a bit more for an otherwise comparable brand/model. I’ve had both, and eventually ponied up for the fluid.

I am in the minority in that I prefer my mag over my fluid.

Just bought a Cyclops Mag Pro. Nice, easy to set up…I’m happy with it.

fluid is the best. still not like rollers or hitting the road. i say get a mountain bike with snow nobbies and bundle up. you won’t regret it. even if u fall that is if you break something and have to rehab it for the rest of the upcoming season…bummer.

I’m very happy with my fluid trainer - bought it a couple of months ago for after work rides in winter. Never used one before, but now I consider it a key piece of training equipment. Search ST on “angry badger”, great deal.
