Bike Time Calculator

So I have an interesting question… Is there a way for the computrainer or some other software to calculate estimated bike time given a course (i.e GPS data or Computrainer course) and average power? Of course you could enter Cda, rider and bike weight, drag factor and wind to get a better estimate. Just to get rough estimate… (I fully understand the real world conditions can trump any estimation, but I thought it might be useful to get “ball park” bike times (i.e for an Ironman if you know what your FTP or your race pace power is))

I imagine one way to do it is to make to “silver man” on the computrainer go at a set power and see when he finishes. Obviously this is totally a waste of time, but I feel that the appropriate data is available to somehow get the calculated/simulated finish time.

Any thoughts?

Again, I do understand that real world vs simulation can be very far off. This is I guess more of an academic question that maybe someone has already figured out. Thanks much.

Here is a link to a tri calculator I’ve used that seems to be able to predict my times pretty well.

Thank you very much. I did come across this in my search of the answer but I was looking for something that is a little more data driven. Something that basically will run my Computrainer course without having to wait for it to finish…

Any others out there?

Again, thanks much for the suggestion.
