Bike Shorts With Minimal Padding?

Yes, you heard me right. I have my best rides in a pair of Nike Shorts I got last year with a pretty skimpy fleece “baseball” style chamois. It is not much more than you find in most tri shorts. Nike does not make this short anymore. Unfortunately, it seems that most of the good quality shorts with nice features like effective wicking fabrics and flatlock seams also have these “beefy” chamoises (plural?).

Who knows of a very nice short with LESS padding.

BTW, I want the durability and compression of a bike short, so I am not just looking for a tri short.

DeSoto bib Power Shorts - nice fit, a little more padding than tri shorts, nice pocket in the back.

Ditto.

What about the equivalent with out the power lycra? I have found with my power tri-shorts from desoto that they are not the most durable. (on my third pair)

Any suggestions for this guy? You seem to be the expert on this forum with regards to extremely minimal padding in bike apparel.

Gerard.

Mac, the new power shorts have a different material (not ribbed) but are just as comfortable and still support the muscles. What do you do to your shorts? I have had a pair of bibs and a pair of waisted power shorts for 2 years and 3 years respectively and wear them for majority of my bike and run sets with no visible wear!

ditto, one pair shorts, one pair bibs, wear them and wash them all the time. Julian, how do you like the new ones? I’m not a fan of all the pockets, seems like they would bug me.
