It is time to upgrade to a new tri bike. Any shops you guys can recommend with a decent selection of tri bikes and a good fitter? Thanks.
Jim
Cupertino Bike Shop (Cupertino) - Vance is a good road fitter but lacking for tri fits
Transition Sports (Oaklandabout an hour from SJ) - I was very unsatisfied with the fitting I received
PK Racing (Fairfax, about 1.5 hours from SJ) - IMHO the best fitter in N. CA
Thanks Hid. You would think with the amount of shops and tri clubs in the area we would have a bigger selection or at least one shop for Tri specific stuff. I know Cup. carries Cervelo and a few others so I may start over there.
You would think so. I’ve entertained the idea of opening a shop; completely uncapitalized market in a very affluent area.
FWIW - Vance did put on the right size frame and the fit wasn’t bad. I tweeked it for a couple months and got fit by Transition, which was horrible - I didn’t even feel right paying for it. I later got fit by Christopher Kautz at PK Racing and can’t be happier with the experience and fit.
Another bigtime believer in PK Racing. Christopher is as good as a fitter can get. They have some great goodies to check out, but don’t carry much in the way of tri frames, etc. Actually, I’ve never seen anyone in NorCal who does. But again, for fitting, especially if you haven’t yet bought a bike, it’s well worth your time getting fit first by PK, then figuring out the frame/bike from there. Wish I had done it that way…
