Bike rent in Chicago

I moved to the US in April 2008 and after an exciting year I went back home to Germany for the holiday season.
I met my old friends and mentioned that I found out that the Chicago triathlon is one of the 3 biggest in the world.

A friend of mine was immediately into it and we both signed in.

Bottom line is that my friend will have a hard time bringing his bike over from Germany for that weekend.

Where can we rent one for that weekend (end of August)?

Any good recommendations for a bike or tri shop in Chicago?
Easy to find cause we both have never been there.

Thanks in advance

Kim

Here… They come with a BENTOBOX

Call Get a Grip Cycles…they have taken care of some of my friends that have come into town. I don’t think they generally rent bikes, but like I said they have helped out my friends in the past. Ask for Kevin…

If either of those don’t work, you can also try Mission Bay Multisport (a local tri shop), and even the Chicago Tri Club - I’ve heard of some of the tri club folks who aren’t racing (or who have extra bikes) loaning out their bikes before…

Mission Bay is officially out of business at both locations.

No kidding? I haven’t been there since July, so I had no idea. Do you know if they’re clearing out their gear at all? (or did that already happen?)

No idea, one of my friends forwarded me an email from his team so thats all I know.

Thanks for your help so far.

I really appreciate this.

Thanks

Kim

Kimster,

If Get a Grip can’t help you out, Well-Fit Triathlon and Training has four Cannondales (actually from Get a Grip, I think) that they let people borrow for cycling classes. I am sure that they would hook you up, no charge. (www.wellfitinc.com)

I have a 57cm Kestrel Talon with SRAM Force (set up as a road bike) I won’t be riding that day and could fit him on if he’s tall enough. Have a smattering of wheels to kit it out with too.
