I am looking at a CADD 4 aero frame and fork, the seat tube angle is listed at 74.5 for the 52cm, I thought I remember reading that Cannondale had done something else to make it effectively steeper… Am I right about that? If so, what? Does anyone own this bike and like to offer an opinion. Why am I buying a new bike? Some SOB stole mine from my apartment. If anyone notices a suspicous ad for a Litespeed Saber 53cm with 9sp DA and Reynolds carbon wheels, HED s-bend clip ons. Please email me at bryin.s@att.net. Thanks
Hmmm. Well, the seat tube angle interpretation of a Cannondale is a trifle odd. The bottom bracket is not in direct alignment along the seat tube axis with the exit of the seatpost from the seat tube (does that make any sense?). Anyway, you can sit at 78 degrees on that bike if I recall correctly.
That is a terrible shame about your Litespeed. Saber’s are fine bikes. Good luck Sir.
Tom, Thanks for the insight and condolences… I thought that was the case about the Cdale. I will miss the Saber but I wanted to try 700c wheels and the Saber was probably too good for me anyway. Do you have any thoughts on the Cdale? I only race sprints and oly distances… and I don’t really race oly’s. Thanks
This is from the C-dale website for the CAAAD4 Aero?

I have a CAAD4 (not Aero), and you have quoted the seat tube angle for that frame, not the Aero frame. Without meaning to offend, perhaps you have looked at the wrong chart?
No offense taken at all, look at this link it is different.

let me know what you think
I just built up one in size 56 with the 700c wheels. I’d say it pretty standard road geometry - maybe slightly steeper but not a ‘tri’ geometry. Got my first ride on it yesterday and it felt good, but then again, I’ve never spent any significant time on a tri-specific bike. I think the 650c version of this frame has steeper geometry.
It’s a nice bike, but if you’re looking for tri-specific geometry you probably should keep looking.
Hey… I have raced tri’s and TT’s on my CAAD4 Aero for 4 years now. Just last year I tried to make the seat tube angle steeper since it is very standard road position. I have a shot of it here. http://www.members.shaw.ca/trevandjenn/
I had to put on a neutral seatpost and slide the seat right up and the tip is still behind the BB by about 3cm. My size is a 52cm as well. As yo can see, I had to fabricate my own aero rest from aluminum in order to have then back enough.
Since I own and race on this bike, I can answer any more questions.

I think I have learned there is a CAAD4, a CAAD4 Aero and a CAAD4 AERO Multisport.
I think they only moved the BB on the CAAD5 Aero frame, I had a Caad4 Aero and a Caad5 aero and they were quite different.
