OK…just a component question from a non-mechanical type…
My old Univega (3rd bike/commuter bike) has good old Suntour 6spd on it…can this be upgraded to 9spd components??? - I figure that as 9spd becomes old school, I can clean up on some cheap 105 or ultegra cranks, shifters, the whole package…

mmmm, rear hub spacing on your six will be 126, where from 8spd on the spacing is 130. So no, not a direct fit, but you can get the rear coldset(steel frame, right?) to the wider spec. Of course you'll need a new rear wheel (or at least hub), as the 9spd is a freehub and your 6 is freewheel. The rest of the stuff will mount up fine, but most will not do the change unless they reeeally love the frame.
