Bike Position...how bad am I?

This was pulling in at the end of the bike is it is not like I was “trying” to be perfect and aero…IMO that is the best time to get what is really going on.

That’s awful, dude! You’re not as hairy as me, and you have a nicer bike. (Sorry, just doing my part to keep things light around here.)

I got fitted a couple of months ago, and my position is quite a bit more upright than yours, but that’s about all I can offer in the way of position advice.

But thanks for the pic, now I’ll know to say, “Hey Chip!” when you pass me at LP.

you’re the badest of the bad.

I always find it difficult trying to look at people riding Softrides and then takling about thier positioning for three reasons:

  1. I am by no means a position expert. I know what works for me and have some loose ideas based on observations I have seen over the years.

  2. I have seen some of the all-time worst bike fits and positioning on Softrides and the Zipp beam bikes.

  3. Because of the non-standard nature of the Softride, it tends to distort how you look on the bike.

Note I did ride a Softride for a number of years back in the early days of the company. Great bike! Ride a Cervelo road bike now.

Is that the biek you were riding on the day you bought yourself some freeze dried peanuts?

Looks comfortable but it seems that you have choked up on the aero extensions in order to extract a little more power or effect a different arm position. Have you considered trimming the extensions so that the bar end shifters are located right at your finger tips when you hands are in the normal riding position?

Damn!

Not you the bike!!! It looks just like MY Rocket! Now we will look like twins at IMLP. Good thing I’ll be riding a lot slower so they’ll be able to tell us apart. I am thinking about riding a 303 front and a 404 rear. That decent into Keene was a little sketchy last year.

Oh, the fit? Really hard to tell from that picture. It’s just at a bad angle.

See Ya’

For cutting the extensions…

I often will lay out on the bike and have my hands over the shift levers much higher on them. I slid down as at the time the photo was taken I was about 100 years from bike - run and am not sure what I was doing…come to think of it, I do spend some time right there too. I move around a bit to keep from getting sore.

It is hard to tell from this picture, but it looks pretty good from what I can see. I have no idea of saddle height, but the cockpit length looks good.

But then, given your recent history, I would expect you to pay close attention to the cockpit.

I was about 100 years from bike - run and am not sure what I was doing

A beautiful typo.
