Bike Insurance

Being new to these colder parts of the world (Vancouver) - the discussion around winter gear is interesting - although I go with the wind trainer / TV combo for now - to easy for me to get lost - and my wife doesn’t know the area well enough to come “find” me. Is anyone aware of specific insurance packages available for bikes - back in South Africa I used to have one covering theft / accident / travel to and from races as well as reasonable accessories. I have tried several insurance types here and they don’t have any idea…

Happy New Year to you all and Dan thanks for a great forum…

In the U.S. usually other types of insurance will extend to cover bicycles but it’s important to make sure your policy and agent are clear on the value of your bike(s). I had to purchase an insurance rider to cover my equipment but felt it was worth doing.

Your home insurance usually will cover your bicycle as well. Just check with your insurance agent to verify what the policy covers. I usually double check every year or so … the first time I told them that I needed my bike covered because it would cost $2500 to replace they thought I needed auto insurance to cover a motorcycle

Vehicle insurance is insurance purchased for cars, truks, and other road vehicles. Its primary use is to provide financial protection against physical damage and/or bodily injury resulting from traffic collisions and against liabilty that could also arise therefrom.
