Bike frames for taller athletes

Greetings! I was wondering if anyone had encountered any situations where you can elaborate on choices or what to avoid? Tri bike preferably, looking at a 63cm
Thanks!

how tall we talking?

6’6"

6’10"?

most of the usual suspects should keep working well up to around 6’6"

6’-3".

you likely won’t even want a 63, probably a 58 or 2nd largest frame of most brands.

I am 6’3", ride a 58 Cervelo P3. Basically there are no special considerations for your height =)

Matty reed edition Fuji ?

Agreed…I almost made the mistake of going too big thinking I was “tall” also… I am 6’2" and ride a 58 Cervelo and it is plenty big! I actually have a 70mm stem on it.

Everyone is different, but I’m 6’5" and just got a 61cm P2. It did help that it had a higher stack than other brands.

I am 6’3" and ride 58 cm Cervelo.

I’m 6’5" and have the last version (2009) of the Felt DA in a 60cm. New one will be a 58cm. I had to special order a super short stem because of the reach. I also have plenty of seatpost in the frame…so much so that I considered trimming it off. I’m actually selling it (shameless plug) if interested:)

I’m 6’3" and have a 57.5cm Kestrel. A little smallish. With a do-over, I would have gone 58/59cm but no bigger. A tri buddy is 6’5" on a 63cm Cervelo P2 and it seems a little HUGE. (his oafishness may blur my perspective) Both were our first bikes. Getting a fit helps, too.

I made the same mistake. Thought because I was 6’4" I needed a big frame (61cm), but I just got a new 58cm frame and have been amazed with the fit. Obviously we could be proportioned differently, but don’t make the mistake of thinking that just because you’re tall you automatically need the largest frame.

x2 on the P2C 61 cm. I’m 6’4", mostly legs. I was surprised at how much seat post they shipped standard.
