has anyone had a fitting at endurosport in toronto (or know someone who has)? i’d appreciate any feedback (positive or otherwise) about your experiences. i’ll be in toronto for a conference soon and was thinking of taking the wife along and having them fit her on her softride (i can’t seem to get her as comfortable as i think she should be, but i think part of the problem is she’s not really sure how she should feel either).
I attended F.I.S.T. triathlon bike fitting school with two people from Endurosport. As another triathlon bike store owner and fitter, was very, very impressed by their knowledge, ability and methods. Ultimately what you are buyng into when you go to a store for a fitting and bike purchase is their “process”. Will the results of their “process” maximize the potential for a good ownership expereince? In the case of Endurosport I must say yes, it will. They are (in my opinion) excellent fitters and assemblers and take what they do seriously. They have an extensive amount of expereince and are constatnly working to improve their capabilities (as evidenced by their attendance at the first ever F.I.S.T. school). I do not hesitate to recommend Endurosport without reservation. My impression is that they are excellent at fitting and assembling triathlon and road bikes.
I’ve been fit by Endurosport/ Athletes First. First off, both Dan and Fiona are good friends of mine, so I may be biased.
Fiona does most of the fits nowadays, and what you’re getting is a fit by a very knowledgeable bike fitter who is also a physical therapist. In my case that means that she actually understands what I’m trying to say when I describe how things feel (especially PAIN!). And because she is not only my bike fitter but also my P.T., she can cross reference my problems on the bike and the therapy table. On top of that she usually participates in the Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday indoor trainer workouts, so she really gets a good look at you from all angles.
In the end all this takes away the biggest drawback of fitting in general, that the fitter gets to see you in prime condition, not at the end of a long ride. Fiona gets to see you after two hours of indoor training, after you’ve dislocated your shoulder playing hockey, when that ITB problem resurfaces, etc.
In my eyes a perfect combination.
Fiona did my fit for me last Feb.
It was the best investment(time and money), best experience, best thing I have done for my cycling, ever, and like gerard said - she is a pt, so she brings more to the fit session than most.
Before the fit, I had pains in my hands, pains in my feet and pains in my arse. She cured all of those with the 1 hour fit session. She looked at all points of contact and angles, set me up with an aggressive aero position and pointed out some poor cycling style that I didn’t even know I had. I got to try out several different saddles until I found one that was just right. We also swapped out the stem - apparently the stock was too long, and finally we set my cleat angles. I could feel the difference before I left the shop. I raced and trained for 1/2 IM all season with no pain and great bike splits.
The fit was for a Cervelo One (the old One).
I’m a believer.
thanks guys. that’s what i wanted to hear. my wife called them this afternoon and book a fitting session with fiona.
