I have a friend that is out in the Southern Cal area, near LA. He is interested in purchasing a tri bike but wants to be fitted before he actually buys a bike. I was looking for any recommedations as to a good person to use for this. Seems as though there are really only a handful of really “expert” fitters. Thanks in advance.
Try Andy Schwartz at Grayband.com. He has a “bike consulting” business in Sherman Oaks. He’s very good and also represents Softride, Parlee, Mandaric, Roarke and others. He’s very thorough and I’ve been very happpy with him. (The Softride website has info about his qualifications. i don’t remember it exactly but he’s one of the only people in SoCal who has the higher level of certification from Softride.)
He’s pretty reasonable pricewise too. I paid $150, I think, and the fitting lasted a couple of hours.

I was impressed with the guys at Sundance Cycles in Agoura Hills (west of LA on 101). Steve and Ashton are the owners/fitters and they are very highly quilified. They carry Serotta, Seven, Calfee, etc. Only high end.
