Have not been on the bike since Sept. Just lazy/ not injured. Getting back into it now and want to skip the slow and easy routine and just do hard interval based rides from the start. Any harm? Or is gradually building up the way to go?
Personally I think the easiest way to get back into cycling in short time in the winter on a trainer is by getting a 5 pack of spinervals and ride through them.
Of course you should get on the bike a few times and ride an hour or so just to get your joints and muscles going again too.

The only interval based media I have is the DVD that came with my trainer. I may have to buy some dvd’s, any recommendations?
“spinervals” Google Troy Jacobson. Happy training!
Just looked at them. Holy crap that is alot of dvd’s…where to begin?
I did te same thing you did…took off from October till now. I did a few easy spin sessions and am now onto some hard intervals. I highly highly recommend trainerroad. There are a ton of workouts and a good price. They have also implemented all the sufferfest videos to create a really fun time!
Ditch spinervals…go to suffefest. Cheaper too
The sufferfest videos are good to but these are moderate and get you going
Are you part of any of the tri-clubs in the downriver area?

sufferfest for sure bro!!! and put long on top of fast in the spring, it won’t do you wrong!!! Good luck!
Sufferfest vs spinervals…we have a little battle here!
Naaaa. Too slow to look into the tri-club thing. ![]()

No battle. Sufferfest wins everytime…and not just on price either

I was just thinking that if you were part of a club that someone would have something for you to borrow and try out for free>

I see you live close…feel like parting with 1 for a day or 2? ![]()
I dont train with power so the first workout is not possible but the other 2 look good. I guess I have to do the LT test for the bike. Thanks!
I’ve had good luck jump starting my bike fitness doing short, very high power intervals, i.e. 5-8 x 30" all out, 2’ recovery is a good one. Doesnt look like much on paper but you should be pretty gassed by the end if you do it right

Nor do I. I would think one could figure out an equivalent 2x20 HR workout but figuring it out would be difficult. Executing it moreso ![]()
fwiw I did that fixed gear pyramid last night. I did a 15 min warm-up (instead of 20) and 4x 7 minute intervals w/ a short cool down. The hour fly by.
This is all you need unless you are in age group 35-39 then you don’t need it
