Bike Fit Video (1)

Well I had decided to race on a road bike again this year but then I came across a great deal so now I`m the proud owner of a low end Transition. I had quite a bit of help getting things setup from the LBS but wanted to get some opinions here. I think I may need to move the seat up a bit and the bars need to be a little wider.

So, other than that, how’s it look?

Oh, and any thoughts on the aerodynamics of wheel reflectors? (forgot they were on there until I looked at the video)

One more try cut and pasting from a touchpad.

Your fit looks pretty good. Though, I am not a pro bike fitter, nor do I play one on TV.

Your fit looks pretty good to me…your shoulders, elbows, and torso angle are all very close to optimal. The only improvement I see would be to lower the front end and move forward on the seat to make you a bit more aero at the cost of comfort. Take it for a few spins and see if tweaking your arm/seat position has any difference on your power output and muscle fatigue.

Reflectors.

Your knee angle is 160 or more as near as I can measure from the video, so you should lower your seat.

Am I the only one thinks his seat seriously looks too high? He’s rocking a fair amount to, what it looks like is, reach the pedals.

Nobody else?

Hmm, I didn’t feel like I was that extended but now that you mention it I do see a little rocking. When I measure the knee angle I get closer to 27ish. I do know the seat is a bit higher than my road setup and LBS fitter said I could even go a bit higher.

How did you measure the knee angle?

I dunno…it also looks like your foot is kinda reaching a bit at the bottom of the stroke.

You looked like Steve Austin moving in slo—mo ;0). Looks like going down a bit in front would not hurt.

HA, I so had the “bionic” sound in my head when you said that. I added another image that makes it easier to see the leg in the down position. I’m still measuring around 150 give or take (from the image). The LBS did use a goniometer (yeah I looked up the name) to measure the angle as well.

Looks as if you might be reaching a wee bit and hip could be rocking a bit. But that could also be still picture illusion

From this image I measure your knee angle as 157 degrees, your ankle is also in about 10 degrees of plantar flexion (I used a goniometer). I think the first thing you should do is to lower your seat.
