Bike fit ST style Critique position

I know it’s a road bike. I’ve raced in some sprints and internationals but I’m doing the Timberman 70.3 in 2007. I’m trying to decide if I need a true tri frame, or if this will get me through one more year. Thanks

What road bars are those? Are they carbon? If so, have you checked to see if you can put clip-on aerobars on them? The reason I ask is that many carbon road bars specifically state that you are not to use clip-on aero bars.

Overall position looks not too bad. If you can somehow shorten the reach on the aerobars and move the elbow pads backwards( while keeping the road bars in the same position), you will be close to getting to as good a position as you can get on that bike, which is likley close to 95%+ of the position that you can get on a tri bike.

Reminds me of my Giant TCR. I used a neutral seat post, put the seat forward and added a set of Syntace C2’s. It worked quite. I still have my fastest bike time at one of our local sprint tris on that bike, faster than my QR Kilo or P2K.

No, I don’t think you need a new bike. I did the vast majority of my tri races on a road frame and was very happy with it. You may want to shorten the extensions up a bit but the downside is that the arm rests will be further up your forearm.

looks like the bars clamp onto the stem Fleck…I am likely wrong though.

I’m curious about the aero bar mounts as well. Major no go if carbon and not specifically approved by the manuf.

Is no one going to ask about the boo boo on the finger?

profile lighting strke mounted to the stem. FSA road bars. I will move the pad mounts back a little bit. Thanks for the reply

Little boo boo, taken care of by my three year old daughter. This morning it was a barney bandaid.

Great call with the carbon road bars to use the stem mounted Profile clip-ons. Just slide the bars and the pads back a bit and I think that you will be good to go.

I really like to lighting strke two screws off and I don’t have to listen to the jousting joke during group rides.

I think I have my saddle is at about 75-76 while not ST steep I does seem to help during the first 1/2 mile of the run.

ok, while everybody is fixated on the aero bars, I will say that the seat does look high…no?

Kurt

yeah it looks high - was wondering what would happen to the angles if his foot was flat at the bottom of the pedal stroke
.

Definitely. Saddle’s too high. Move your saddle down 1-2 cm and get rid of 1-22cm of spacers. Voila…same upper body pos…better overall pos.

Thanks, I will try the lower seat position and take one less spacer.

Is that a two way mirror behind you. I’m wondering who’s back there watching us?

You’re using the SSL as your “trainer” wheel…

Man… I need a real job.

You kind of look like Kevin Spacey, esp in the front on photo…

That’s a gorgeous road bike! How do you like it?

Nice Pearl Izumi shoes, you should see the new 2007 tri shoes from Pearl!!!

Is that the I-Magic or the Fortius?

I love my Fortius. Are you racing in any virtual leagues?
