Bike Fit (31)

Hey STers

So I posted about buying a new road bike for conditioning and fun and am pretty set on Cannondales. I dig em.

Adn then just read a whole lot of posts about brand not mattering as much as fit.

My question is, given that there are three contact points for a rider on a bike (butt, feet, hands), would not any brand’s bike be able to fit the same as any brands’ comparable model by adjusting stem height and length, seat height and seat fore/aft?

Thanks!!
Shaun

unless you are extremely short, or tall, thats a bunch of crap.

pretty much yes.

Many bikes can achieve whatever fit coordinates are needed, unless they are too large.
However, handling characteristics may be sub-optimal due to the needed stem lengths/ rise etc.

For example: Instead of getting a bike with a short headtube and an extremely short and high rise stem… why don’t you get a bike with a taller headtube, “normal” stem and geometry designed around that position.
