Coming from Northern Europe and new to this forum, I have for a long time planned to travel to North America for a bike fit (Triathlon) and this year (spring) it seems I shall get my plan realized.
However and due to the distance and cost of travel I cant turn around after a few days if I feel the bike fit was no good so I hope to get a recommendation from this forum so I can try to get the best possible fit with my one and only “shot”
As flight connections are pretty good from where I come from to most of North America place is not an issue.
there are different types of fits though to be aware of. Retul is more of a computerized fit that will work with/show any odd body/leg movements and work with position (from what I’ve heard). Other fits are different, focus more on stack & reach, etc
North America is a very large place with lots of fitters. Are you flying just for a fit or also want to have a bit of a holiday? Some parts of North America are much nicer to visit than others. I’d suggest picking a possible location(s) and then asking here for a fitter in that area.
If by chance you are thinking of the Toronto area, then Endurosport is an excellent choice for a tri specific fit. They are probably one of the more experienced FIST fitters.
Thanks for the reply.
The Retul fit is something new for me, but I checked out their website and it seems great and they also have fitters in Belgium, Denmark and France. Nearly on my doorstep!
The fit is the main thing but I also plan to have with me a new bike on the return.
I have travelled through the area you mentioned many years ago and yes its nice up there.
FISTapalooza: March 21/22? **
Ops, here it seems possible to get any kind of Fit!
I have read many of the articles to Dan Empfield, included the Tour de Bike Fit and for me he seems to be the heart of Bike Fit!**
I really hope there comes some update about this event, BTW, is this at the place called Xantusia not so far from Los Angeles?
I think “the retul” is a good way to go. That is just an opinion I have no experience and I am also looking around forr a fitter in the
northern part of Europe. Im from Sweden and have been in contact with the retul guy in Helsingör, Denmark. But I hesitated a bit
since he has only been doing the retul fitt fot about a year, i think.
My generall question and concernis…is not experience an importent part of any fitting session?
Make a vacation of it in NYC and go see Paul Levine-taking a bike home with you would a challenge but I am sure that Paul can pull some strings and move you up.
I don’t know but as with so many other things in life I also guess that “hands on” experience from Cycling/Triathlon or as a coach will be a plus. Even better would it probably be if the fitter have a combination of experience with different bike fitting systems and knowledge about sports medicine.
