I’m looking for a video of the IMCdA bike course.
I saw the ones that Trakkers did on vimeo before doing IMKY last year and found them helpful. Do similar ones exhist for IMCdA?

I am also looking for the same thing. So far my search has only revealed the computrainer version. Does anyone know if you can play the computrainer cd/dvd on a regular dvd player, or do you need computrainer software?
Cool idea. I’d like to know if you find such an item, cost, and so on.
You can play the CT CdA RCV on a computer that will handle a large .avi file, Windows Media Player or DivX), without the adjacent CT load generation files. That is the only version currently available, so for $99 it’s like playing Blu-Ray on a iTouch (lot of data missing that you still pay for). Rumor has it that CT is considering releasing a RCVo (Real Course Video only) version for this very purpose at a reduced price.
This would be kewl. I saw a vid a while back of the IMoo someone mounted a camera on their car then drove the course. Then sped up the video so it was only 10 min long or something. Its amazing how much you gather from even such a high speed. It reminds me of listening to tapes of lectures way back, I would speed up the recorder so the talking sounded like chipmunks but you got used to it and could rip through lectures on tape that way.

Here ya go:
Ride out of town
Ride along the lake
Go up a hill
Go down a hill
Go back up the hill
Go back down the hill
Go back through town
Ride through some swanky neighborhoods
Ride lots of rollers around a lake
Head into some farmlands with more rolling hills. For some of us those were big hills
Ride back into town, nice and flat.
Repeat
Finish

Yep. That is the course.
I saw a DVD of the IMCDA bike course at Bow Cycles in Calgary. It was just a straight DVD, no Computrainer or anything else. Give them a call and I’m sure they’ll either send one of tell you who makes it. I think it was about $40.
Here’s a pretty good video, all you need really.

that is it, may I add that if you drive it do the speed limit, cause the BIG hill has 5 - 0 hiding on it ![]()
.
sounds like you have the course down, any feedback on how it compares in overall difficulty to Lake Placid? I have been trying to decide on gearing for IMCDA, I used a 12/27 (53/39 crank) at Placid and felt like I might have been better off with a 12/25…have you done both?
Just what I was looking for.
Thanks!
Yup, done both. I always like my 27 because I’m not a strong cyclist. I think Placid was harder but I did it back in '05 and it was my first to my memories are a bit hazy. I just remember thinking geez, another HILL? CdA is nice because only about 1/3 of the loop is hilly so you have some nice flat spots to make up time you might lose on a hill.
I went to a training camp there before the race and rode it multiple times plus you get to do it twice on race day so I’m pretty darn familiar with that course. I really loved the race overall. The course is beautiful. Support in town was amazing, keggers on porches, old people sitting in lawn chairs watching the bikes go by, finish line still full even for those of us who finish after dark.
I’ve done Canada too and my order of favorites is:
I actually think CdA is underrated.
I did IMCDA in 2008 with 53/39 and 11/23 because that’s what came on the bike. If I had to do it over again I might do a 25, but there is really only one smallish hill where it’s a bit of work with the 23.

I just bought one, will let you know how it is.

I got this DVD in the mail last week and had a opportunity to preview it last night. There are 2 discs. I watched a good part of the 1st disc and none of the 2nd yet. It basically follows a cyclist along the course with a voice over workout/gearing recommendations. I would recommend viewing it without the sound as the guy who does the voice over may put you to sleep. It is a very detailed view of the course at cycling speed and accomplishes what I was looking for in terms of getting a feel for the course.
