Bike cog wonky?

To add to my crash last week, one of my bikes I was using on the turbo has gone wrong.

There is something wrong with the freewheel on the cogs. It has been running as a fixed gear bike (it’s not) for a few days, now the chain won’t seem to spin the wheels properly at all. When I put the bike on the turbo and spin the pedals, nothing happens. When I take the bike off, and spin as normal, the wheels spin a bit, but not much.

Something is loose and I don’t know what. I took the wheels off and degreased and oiled everything more than once (tricky and infuriating to do with 1 arm!). I tried spinning the freewheel on the wheel and it spins both ways, though not easily - is this how it should be?

Any thoughts, it’s beyond me…

bump?

I tried changing the skewer but it’s still an overly-free freewheel.

The freewheel should only spin one way - if it spins both ways, the bike won’t move forward when you pedal, and if it doesn’t spin either way, you can’t coast. Yours may be broken or inhabited by demons.
Take it to a shop if there is one nearby, they may be able to fix it. From what you’ve described, though, a new back wheel is likely in your future. Hope you heal fast!

It turns out I need a new wheel, the freewheel mech was broken, but I can keep the cogs etc.
