Bike Accident

I recently participated in Ironman CDA and had a bike accident on the second loop at mile 78.4 (according to my bike computer) which is near the golf course in Hayden. I was knocked unconcious and awoke in the ambulance on the way top the ER and I have not been able to remember what happened. The accident did not involve another bike or automobile. I know that. If anyone was there as a participant or spectator and witnessed this accident or know someone who did see what happened please send me an e-mail at dmburg@verizon.net.

Thanks.

bump.

I think you have a short term memory loss issue?

Sometimes you can piece together what happened from the evidence. Helps to be a cop : )

I had the same thing happen, though I was only out for a split second. So happens, I hit nothing…when I “jumped” to make a traffic light the front fork snapped in half and I went over the handle bars, the first thing hitting the pavement was my head.

What kind of damage to your bike, your wheels, helmet, injuries? Too bad you can’t visit the crash area. Might be something there too.

I’ve got a similar story from last week end IM Switzerland, not uncounscious but ‘just’ loss of memory of what happened just before and after the accident, roughly 10km into the ride, straight line, no wind, good road surface. I start to remember as I was sitting on a bench, trying to figure out if I could repair my bike which was snapped at the forehand of the top and diagonale tubes. 2 parts of one bike, one rider pretty much broken too. I sort of remember people saying I had hit a barrier, but I don’t know if my bike broke before or after the fall, i.e. did I made a massive mistake, had a balance problem or something snapped on the bike and then I felt. I was nt lucide enough to ask people around exactly what happened to me. Several members of my club were riding behind me (slower out of the water and they did not pass me before the accident), and none of them remembers seeing me on the floor. Good luck for your search!
