Brief description of my Bike Accident in New Jersey. I am riding on a quiet side street in the direction of traffic. As I pass a car parked on the side of the road the driver decides to open their door and with no time to react I crash into the door. My right shoulder took the full impact. It is now very black and blue and my collar bone might be fractured. Waiting on further review of the X-ray.
I was told by medical provider that all medical claims need to go through my car insurance. As a result I am looking for a lawyer in New Jersey with experience handling bike/car accidents. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I went through the same thing 5 months ago.
Yes, your car insurance will handle the claim and you DEF want to get a lawyer.
I got a lawyer that deals almost exclusivley with pedestrian/bicycle accidents.
Heal quick, and best of luck in the upcoming months.
If you have any specific questions let me know, becuase I have lived this mess and Im 5 days from settlement!
Sorry to hear about that! Yes, getting doored is a big problem for cyclists. I always try to clear cars by 3-5 feet, when possible. So many people will mindlessly fling open their doors to waddle out…
