based on articles I read about his speech - - no mention of a draft. It would be a general upswing in recruitment that would take years and would not effect the Iraqi War - - BTW Bush finally admits to we are not winning and we are not losing the war, whewww, . . we are finally getting somewhere. Maybe the drugs are finally working.
That’s an interesting question. He is calling for many more troops in Iraq. The Army and Marines are nearly at their breaking point, boots on the ground wise, and I guess support. There aren’t many more to draw from and people are seeing multiple, extended tours.
Now, the Generals are all pretty much against the additional troops plan as they see it causing much bigger problems. I can’t figure the guy out and more importantly, I can’t understand who’s advice he’s listening to.

I think he is so against admitting errors that he is going to make things worse. How on earth will throwing 20,000 more troops help the situation in Iraq?
I can understand Art’s view of retracting and protecting highly sensitive areas, but doesn’t Bush understand that our presence is helping to fuel the insurgency? Increasing our exposure is the worst decision he could make so I’m convinced he will keep his record intact and proceed.
We are throwing good money after bad on this one and it doesn’t surprise me one bit. 2008 cannot come quickly enough.
