Hm… I had two friends do this event. Maybe it moved away from Harrison Hot Springs, or somehow avoided irritating the city?
I’ve seen that article. It is from last year. They moved the race to an area called Harrison Mills. About 15 minute drive from Harrison Hot Springs. Still hoping for a race report. I was supposed to do this race and circumstances beyond my control (I was hit by a truck while on a training ride) have prevented me from competing.
I did the full ironman and it was bad from the late start to the dangerous conditions on the road. The road was way too busy to have bikes or runners on it. Support crew did the best the could but nobody had any idea about any mileage. I did the race because the time worked for me. I have run many races and take what the day has to offer but this race put the racers in some very dangerous situations. I would recommend that you avoid any races put on by World Endurance Sport. Just my opinion.

Seconded.

I was signed up for the full. After hearing all the negative publicity from STers, and more importantly, USAT, I had to make a tough decision about this race. It’s proximity in date and location to a wedding I very much anticipated attending, made this the right race for me. I trained for this race, knowing that the support wouldn’t be there. I knew going into it that there probably wouldn’t be a lot in terms of athlete support.
It ended up that I was not invited to the wedding. It ended up that I was also hit by a truck while riding in the beginning of July, thereby ending the possibility to do the race.
But I really needed to know what the results were. There were only 15 or so people who signed up for the full and only about 10 actually showed up. When I saw that on the website, I knew I was one of the lucky ones. I hope this wasn’t your first experience at this distance.
But more important - PLEASE POST A RACE DESCRIPTION. Maybe we can forward it to the appropriate people so that future unsuspecting new triathletes don’t get burned.
