Big time props (spoiler)

To Gerard and Cervelo, they must be flying high right now. The accomplishments keep rolling in - now the fastest speed in a tdf time trial on their bike. Congrats…

P3C or P3SL?

And it’s all Dave … he’s a badass.

The only sad part, is that as the winner he doesn’t get to ask the interview questions!

I don’t know. I hear you about the rider, that is certainly the most important thing, but from a success metric on the part of the bike manufacturer - it has to feel good.

I totally agree.

Smart move by Bjarne to put his best time trialist down the list so that he would start in the morning when the conditions were calmer. He has to be one of the smartest DS’s out there.

I was surprised that Basso lost so much time.

Interesting to see Flyod’s position on his BMC - There’s a photo on cycling news where if he must be sat on the very front mm of his saddles nose. His arm position is the total oposite to Jans with his hands very high.

Is it time that the UCI altered there saddle position rule as a lot of riders seem to manage to replicating a steep angled forward postion anyway?

“I was surprised that Basso lost so much time.” really???
What did you expect Ivan to come in at? This isnt the Giro anymore. Besides you take away the top two finishers and his time (as well as others) dont look to bad. The big question is can he make any time up on Vino (who had an excellent prologue)? The TTT is going to be very important for Basso!

Given that Basso was actually very close to Zabriskie at the Giro TT’s I thought he would have been closer today. The lack of climbing probably didnt suit him.

If Zabriskie can learn how to climb the big mountains he could certainly be a GC contender in the major tours.

If Zabriskie can learn how to climb the big mountains he could certainly be a GC contender in the major tours.

Team boss Riis said he wasn’t surprised his young charge won Saturday’s opener, but cautioned that the native Utahan still has a lot to learn before being making the switch to a GC rider. “Dave needs to lose 3 to 4 kilos to climb better in the mountains. If he can do that, I’m sure he can be a threat for the Tour someday,” Riis said. “He’s impressed me ever since he’s come to this team.”

He already showed good climbing in the Giro as one of the last CSC riders to support Bassso in the moounitians, so loosing some kg’s would proably make him a good climber, the question is just how much that would affect hs TT’ing.

Indeed, it’s a great thing to see this sort of business success. It’s inspirational, because it came with what are the basic essential ingredients to any successful business:

  • Some great ideas

  • Humble and sobering beginnings

  • A lot of hard work

  • A bit of luck

  • And then a lot more hard work!
