Who is in?
I will be wearing my Slowtwitch tribe shirt. Come and say Hi unless you are not an asshole, in which case I have no interest in meeting you!
Edit: By the way, on the bike course, beware of the train tracks crossing at about mile 12, just by the Davenport plant (look for the tall chimney). The tracks are at a 30° with the road. I have witnessed too many people take a bad fall on those. Veer to the right so that you can turn to the left before crossing them to be closer to an orthogonal angle. (One year they had laid plywood boards to help, but I don’t know what the plan is this year).
The same holds true on the way back by mile 43 or so.
Very excited – this is my last race of the season and it better go well. I have to make up for my terrible Vineman 1/2 last year where I had major nutrition problems on the run…
It’s alright, you don’t have to tell me your name when we meet if you wish to preserve your anonymity.
Why last race? Come back for the Sentinel!
As a collegiate you might also be interested in the UCSC Sprint. I haven’t heard anything about it yet but I know they were planning to have the 2nd one this year (late Oct. or early Nov.)
You can hunt me down through my profile which links to my portfolio website which leads to…
This is my last race before I take a few weeks off and start getting ready for the California Int’l Marathon. I’ll probably need to start a thread about balancing a regular base season with a quick 3 month build-up to a marathon.
Anyways: just look for some green and gold passing you on the bike course. That’s the good part of being a mediocre swimmer. No one sees your uniform when you pass them in the water but when you pass them on the bike, they have a good minute to look at your behind.
My 15 year old son , and I will be there . He is trying to break 5:30, did 5:31 at Sona last year. I’m just trying to be as far ahead of him as possible.
I know you are not local and fast. Make sure you read my edit about the train tracks on the first spot on this thread, especially if you don’t plan on pre-riding the course.
