Bib-Short for Tall-Skinny Guys?

I’m looking for a new pair of cycling short. I’m a tall guy, 6’3" and have a 32 inch waist. I’ve always worn regular cycling short, but I want to give Bibs a try. All the pros wear them so they must be comfortable. However, I’m worried about the sizes they come in. I typically get a Medium for my short, however will the straps be long enough to go over my shoulders? Any lanky guys out there with any recommendations for bib brands and sizes?

(Also, seems like none of the LBSs carry good quality shorts so I’m planning on ordering online)

Not a concern…but they are warmer than a normal short.

Let me know what you find. I am 6’5", 34 waist. I tried one and it was just too short in the torso.

I’m the same build, I’ve got a couple pairs of Louis Garneau medium bid that fit great as well as a pair of Santini that are size large (I’ve heard the Italian brands fit a bit smaller)

I have some santini bibs that fit me but I bought them in italy for 50euro. I think they were equivalent to XXL. I also have descente aero-x bibs fit ok though they are a little roomy around the mid section. on the plus side the don’t come as high in the back as the santini’s and the chammy is better. 6’7" w/ 33 inch waist. excel sports has the descentes.

I’m 6’3’’ with a 32’’ waist (but I’m REALLY skinny-154 lbs.). I’ve tried a number of bibs and now like Pearl Izumi Ultrasensors. Fit is snug but comfortable. Pad is thicker than most high end shorts but I like this. I have some Castelli Y-Fusos that are made of a very comfortable (if slippery) material but the pad is very wide and very thin, not too comfortable for me. They are also kind of loose in the gut when on the aero bars. The PI’s don’t do this.

What size in the PIs do you wear?

I’m 6’2" with a 33" waist (~170 lb.), and I wear medium DeSoto bibs. They’re the most comfortable shorts I’ve ever owned.

I’m 6’2" (all legs) 33" waist and 175 lbs and I’ve got a pair of medium Sugoi bib shorts that I’d say are on the small side… if I’m not careful a there can be a little bit of camel toe.

I suffer from the same issue. (6’2" ~33" waste) I have a pair of medium PI Heliarc bib shorts and they are definitely a little too short in the torso department.

You would think that the majority of triathletes and cyclists are thin and tall, but I’ve found that the majority of the stuff is sized like typical american clothing. (For short fat guys or tall fat guys)

I also tried a pair of Louis Garneau Bib Shorts in size Medium that were also too small torso-wise. I am ashamed to admit this, but the best fitting bib shorts I’ve worn to date were Performance brand (Elite model I think) bib shorts.

If anyone knows of a company making ‘Medium Tall’ cycling or triathlon apparel please chime in.
