Bets: NYC, Paris, London, Madrid, Moscow?

who will be the winner for the OG2012?
decided tomorrow am in Singapore.

Paris.

I’ll take NYC. By then it will have been 16 years since a summer games in the US. If not 2012, then 2016.

the pronostics give a close fight between London and Paris right now…looks like NYC is out of the race because of lack of info on the future big stadium…Madrid was looking good but not mentioned anymore…

NYC - I hope - would be great to have it in the Big Apple! Z

I hope it’s Paris. London has a good chance.

I wish it was NYC but they were totally wrong trying to stuff a huge new stadium where it didn’t belong. So it’s their own fault they weakened their bid by not having a stadium.

Moscow just isn’t ready.

Paree!

I think Paris will take it too. But somehow, I’d like Madrid to get the games…going to Paris for holidays isn’t very ‘exotic’ for me
Madrid is fun and I went there only once.

NYC would be neat too. But I also think the stadium thing blew it.

I hope it’s Paris. I want a chance to steal a cab and hotrod it down the same streets that were featured in that movie *Ronin, *with Robert DeNiro, Jean Reno and Natascha McElhone. Now, THAT was a car-chase scene!

Hot-For-Natascha Tony

really think it beats the car chase scene in Bullit??

No one else is taking London, so I will.

What do I win?

the right to buy yourself a plane ticket, go to London, get a pint, fish and chips and see the Games in 7 years.

Great deal. Count me in for London.

Thanks, Francois. I never believed any of that stuff people said about you.

I’m hoping for London - my friend’s house is about 3km from the Olympic Village/New Stadium and my London office will be under 10km.

It’s really only London and Paris in the running now, with Paris just having the edge I think.

LATEST 2012 OLYMPICS ODDS

4-9 Paris (From 4-11)
7-4 London (Was 9-4)
10-1 Madrid
50-1 New York, Moscow
(London’s odds have more than halved from 7-2 since Monday morning. Madrid are 10s from 20-1. Although still odds-on, Paris are their longest price of 2005).

Probably not NYC since Vancouver has 2010 (winter Olympics) two years earlier. Two olympics back to back in North America doesn’t seem likely.

I’m for Paris too.

ok, if Paris takes it, how a ST trip there…I’ll be the guide
I can show you stuff like

  1. how to answer to a rude waiter at a cafe who just told you if you don’t get an other coffee, as you are done you have to leave
  2. how to walk in some of the metro stations without breathing
  3. remembering that the word entree used in the US as ‘main dish’ actually means appetizer in french
  4. how to never have to deal with an employee of the french ‘public service’
  5. choose a good yet cheap restaurant
  6. find the best riding places
  7. how to answer to a (generally american) tourist who doesn’t even try to say hi in french before asking something in english
  8. the pick up lines to avoid (after reading some here by some STers, I think this is necessary!)

what do the vegas oddsmakers say?
