Best wetsuit?

Any preference on wetsuit brand? I am anti-wetsuit, but probably should wear one for some chilly ocean swims coming up? Does it keep you much warmer? Stupid question, but I don’t like extra gear…Should I tell you how I really feel about the bike…another time…so, which wetsuit do you wear? Thanks

I can’t say enough about my Nineteen Frequency. I LOVE it. It’s like a second skin- I don’t even notice I’m wearing it (except for the fact that it’s warm), it’s super fast, and it strips off easily.

Hi! My name is Alyie and we sound a lot alike

I think I’ve given up on my wetsuit. It feels like a hug, wrapped around my shoulders. That is a good feeling - but I don’t like not being able to feel water all over my forearms and sliding off my back and on my legs. (miserable piece of fabric called “wetsuit”

are you a swimmer by any chance? just curious.

love from,
a fish!

Get the Desoto T1. I just got one last month and have been training in it. Today, I took it for its first race – in the ocean, which was about 16 degrees Celsius/61 degrees Fahrenheit.

It’s fantastic! It kept me warm (and I get cold *really *easily), felt like a second skin, caused no shoulder strain, and came off in seconds when the swim was done.

Oh, and did I mention that it’s not terribly expensive? And that Desoto gives amazing customer service?

The “best” wetsuit is going to be the one that fits you best. Wetsuit fit is very unique and intimate. Different people fit different brands differently.

The “best” wetsuit for you is when you are in the right brand for you, you are in the right size for you and finally and perhaps most important, when that suit is fitted to you properly prior to swimming, it should feel like swimming in no wetsuit at all - just faster!

My advice would be to find a shop that has a good selection of wetsuit brands( at least two) and sizes and has a person on staff who really knows wetsuit fit.

Hope this helps

Perfect answer.

Good, honest answer.

I agree about the Desoto T1, the 2 piece design allows for a almost custom fit. The low neck line feels great when you are swimming and the customer service is unbeatable. I ripped my suit on a bike chain in transition. I shipped the suit to DeSoto, one week later it was returned fixed and no charge not even for shipping. Also this suit is really warm.

The wetsuit that feels least like a wetsuit (aside from tigerchik’s need to feel the water caressing her body or whatever  ) is the DeSoto. I love the two-piece. I really fell in love during my Ironman swim, when I didn’t have any of that shoulder burn-out even after 2.4 miles of swimming…

Bob,

It was nice to have met you at IMC. Thanks for dropping by the Morning Swim to say, “Hello”.

laugh if you want! I can swim plenty fast without that thing

Steve
Hello! Sorry wrong guy. I was not at IMC. But I hope to meet you some day.

My apologies. I think that it was Tribodyboarder - I am getting you surfing triathletes all mixed up
