Best way to suck wheel on a Cervelo

Saw the funniest thing in the Waterloo Tri Du in Michigan this morning. This is a great race but with only limited race marshalling. I’m about 3/4 through the hilly bike leg, going about 22 mph and one of the duathletes goes roaring by on a red Schwinn Continental. Pretty humbling. But the guy riding about 20 meters in front me, riding a Cervelo P3, is having nothing of it. When the Schwinn goes by him, he falls right in behind it and sucks his wheel until they both disappear over the next hill. Several guys were in stitches over this after the race. Anyone know the name of the Continental rider? Imagine what he could do on even a mediocre tri bike.

I’m pretty sure I saw a few of the duathletes on Schwinn Continentals. There was a kid who was hammering away on one, and I thought much the same thing. I didn’t see the Cervelo guy sucking wheel though. That would have been pretty funny.

A P3 drafting a Schwinn…bet you won’t find that on Cervelo’s wallpaper download page. LOL!

Do you think the absence of dimpled wheels and hubs, aero tubing, a pointy space man helmet and all the other high-cost speed equipment made that Schwinn the best thing to draft behind? Perhaps that’s the true meaning of “cheating the wind”–emphasis on CHEATING!

I saw that…I thought it was funny.

Yet another thread that proves it not about the bike, but the motor.

It always cracks me up when a local club will show up at a small du/tri with their armada of P3 Carbons, deep dish Zipps and discs, riding their trainers prior to cycling 18 “grueling” miles.

It wouldn’t be so totally LAME, if they left their air of superiority at home once in a while.

Cervelo Mafia take note: Schwinn ROCKS!!!

Bravo, bravo!!! That, fine sir, was well said.

I beat a P3C with Zipps on my P2C with a Nimble and (gasp!) a regular 28 spoke clincher wheel on the back at last week’s TT.

And I didn’t warm up on a trainer either, so I feel very superior!!

No trainer warm up?

Sheesh! You’re missing the boat! Guaranteed to make you look 2-3mph faster

Way to make those clincher wheels HUM!!!
