Best way to cut aerobars?

I want to play around with cutting back my aerobars. I currently have two sets of U shaped Mavics and am thinking about cutting one set so I can add bar end shifters. Also, I am thinking about messing with cutting up a mtb handlebar to two make a set of aerobar extensions.

What is the best way to cut these aluminum tubes? Dremel? Hacksaw? Tube cutter? Any and all advice is appreciated.

Pipe cutter if you have one.

If not, use some tape around the tube to mark where you REALLY want it cut, then use a hacksaw to cut just outside of that, and use a file to get it to the tape.

In either case, don’t forget to file the inside of the tube to take off the burs and sharp edges.

DO NOT USE A HACKSAW!

Pipe cutter only.

Tubing cutter. They are cheap, as in less than $10. Your local hardware store should have them. No excuse to risk a bad cut with a hacksaw.

Care to explain why?

I’ve used a hacksaw MANY times with no ill effects (apparently). As long as I file off the burs and leave a nice smooth edge, there should be no issues with crack growth…
