The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2 rocks and I would highly recommend it.
I have had no issues, and often had it underwater for 2 hrs at a time in Hawaii. The under water photos compare to
my high end SLR. Pay close attention to the waterproof depth rating when comparing cameras.

Dunno about the brands, but I’d recommend against any of the cameras with the lens jammed in the upper corner. They do it to keep them slim.
I had a non-waterproof Fuji like that, and I can’t tell you how many pictures I have of my fingers in front of some really beautiful scenery.
The Pentax design with the lens in the middle looks like a winner to me.
I bought one of the Canon cases for my Digital Ixus 980 compact. It was a bit pricey but all the of the features and functions are useable and it floats too! It has a proper depth rating and I’ve towed it behind me on a few laps of the lake until the light and position was right for the attached. I’ve also messed around trying to get some half above and half under the surface shots. . . . . . . … but still need to do some work on my photography skills before those will be any good. ;o)

+1 on the Canon D10. I got it mostly because it takes great normal pics as well (you know, the other 99.9% of the time)
