I had a caesar salad, beef wellington, and four glasses of wine at Gordon Ramsay Steak in the Paris hotel/casino last night. It would have cost $223 ,but they comped it, so that is a good value.
It’s getting closer. Right now Colorado is your closest. We’ll have five new stores in the next 6 to 8 months here in the Nashville area and they’re moving their corporate headquarters here too. I think the plan is to have 35 stores in Tennessee eventually. They need to put a food distribution center in Kentucky, and then they could branch out to a number of states.
It’s fucking burgers and fries. If you eat there, you know what you’re getting. The founders have a backache from all of the money they are carting to the bank.
In n Out is overhyped. Its a decent fat food burger place, but not like its the holy grail or anything. Other comparable “good enough” burger places. Their fries are sub-par to me.
We saw the same thing in Rome. 7 people, all had entrees, 3 bottles of wine, 5 desserts. Everything was stupid good. $210, no tip.
Outside of the Costco food court mentioned the best value is the Mark Pi’s on 5th Avenue in Columbus.
We have been going there for almost 40 years, still run by the same people, food is great, costs around $12/person. Best Chinese food in Columbus, strip mall setting and kind of shabby.
I can’t really gage the hype level, we don’t have them and I’ve only ever eaten at them while traveling. From my perspective it’s a perfect fast food burger joint. Fast, cheap, simple and tasty. It’s probably just as well that we don’t have them here or I would be eating there all the time.
We don’t have most of the chains mentioned here, but we do have a five guys. I ate there once. Pretty average.
How good can smash burgers get? It feels a bit like places competing on who can make the best scrambled eggs. I don’t get the hype of most of the places.
Fries I can kind of see because they’re challenging/annoying to make at home.
So you agree with me i guess? I wouldn’t say that about all burger places though, i dont eat the bun or fries. For fast food, probably carls jr has the best bang for buck
5 guys isn’t that great tasting of a burger. I eat there occasionally. Their meat patties are bland. Generally 5 guys is pretty damn expensive to get a burger and fries there.
Haven’t been in awhile, do they still give you a ton of fries in a single order? That single order would be enough for my son to each get a burger and split the fries. And that’s when he was a teen with a teen’s appetite. Good value, right there.
The one time I ate there was on a road trip to go skiing. The only reason I went is because I was given a gift card at some point. I stopped for an early lunch around 1130. I didn’t eat again until the next morning, it felt like I was trying to digest a solid brick all day. And if I recall, the $25 gift card I had didn’t cover the entire order!
Dude, try the new Murder Burger downtown. Their double cheese smash burger is frickin amazing. And their fries are cooked in tallow.
Smash burgers are their own thing. If they aren’t cooked properly they are just a dried out piece of shoe leather. And let’s be clear, it’s not haute cuisine.
$24 for a double cheese, fries and a pop. And there is almost always a line up.
Interesting, I’ve heard bad reviews about them online. Moreso about the service side (absurdly long waits for food. Which seems odd for a smash burger and fry place).
I make a fantastic smash burger at home. I’d put it up against anything, anywhere.
Fries are a different animal. Not very practical to make at home.
For me, I want a good experience.
I have a great source for steaks and can cook it as good as they can, so I don’t go out for steaks much.
Same for bbq, and a lot of other meats.
I’ll pay for good ethnic, non-chain restaurants anytime. Whenever I travel for work, I’ll use yelp to find a cool spot to hit for dinner.
